The Anointing….For a Purpose

Anointing : Hagiazo(Greek) -To consecrate or set apart.

God has set us apart. He makes the divine difference in our lives.

Matt 5:13-16
We are the salt and light of the world.

Just as salt gives essence to the food, we – a minority are called to bring essence to the lives of those around us.

If the salt is left open, it loses its essence.
In the same way, we lose our essence when we lose our connection with God.

Our light is to shine before others, so that we may direct people to God.
We don’t have to show off or persuade people to come.
People will see our lives and will be drawn towards God because of it.

Zechariah 8:23
Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.

When we are connected to God, people will come to us and ask us about our lives, about what makes us so different.

The Anointing is not just for us, but for those around us.

2Corinthians 4:7
Treasure in jars of clay

What is this treasure ?
The gospel message, through which we are saved.

This message is not for us only, but for all those who God brings into our lives.

2Corinthians 4:6
God’s light shines in our hearts.

Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor and set free the captives.

The purpose of the Anointing is to preach the good news and set free those who are bound in sin and bring them to the light.

Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.

We are the only messenger of Jesus some people may ever meet or the only Bible some people may ever read.
We need to shine His light into the darkness.
